Iran, Russia reaffirm political solution to Syria crisis

TEHRAN, Mar. 08 (MNA) – Senior Iranian and Russian diplomats have once again reaffirmed the importance of settling Syrian crisis through political approaches.

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Russian counterpart Mikhail Bogdanov examined and exchanged views over the latest developments in the region, particularly in Syria, Yemen, Lebanon and Palestine here on Monday.

During the meeting held in Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and on the eve of a new round of Syria-Russia talks in Geneva, Tehran and Moscow emphasized that the two countries must hold more consultations in an attempt to promote peace talks in Syria.

They also stressed the importance of restoring unity to Syria and maintaining the Arab country’s territorial integrity.

Amir-Abdollahian stressed a successful fight against terrorism requires determination to cut off logistical, financial and military helps to the terrorist groups.

Iran’s and Russia’s officials further recalled that Tehran and Moscow stand up to the United Nation’s endeavor in finding a political solution to the current crisis in Syria.
